Why “Deliberate?”
Most small and medium businesses have what can best be described as an accidental technology stack. Hardware, software, and services were deployed in a reactive manner, to meet an immediate need; there was no overarching strategy behind the decisions and little concern given to long-term architectural planning.
Eventually that ad-hoc approach proves limiting for the business. The technology team may be overstretched dealing with disparate systems; other staff may find themselves manually copying information among multiple software packages with limited interoperability, or paying for multiple systems with duplicate functionality. It’s time for a more deliberate approach.
